Fisher Goldbug 2 vs White's GMT. Which is the better performer when it comes to hunting for gold in heavily mineralized ground?

I wanna know also! I'm leaning toward the GMT. My DFX doesn't seem to work real well with small gold. Sad

I have the GM II and the Gold Bug II. The GM II is pretty much the same as the GMT, with exception of the added doodads of the more modern circuitry. As far as I can tell my Fisher picks up finer gold than the Goldmaster. They both handle mineralized ground well... not as well as a PI, but they also pick up smaller gold than a PI. Either choice is a good one, however if I were to just have one it would be the Gold Bug.

Cheers

Sean

Thanks for your input Sean! As I'm expecting to encounter fine gold in a particular area, I think my choice is now clearer. Smiley

Search on this forum "gold bug depth". There is a post somewhere with a depth chart for the Gold Bug II.

Cheers

Thanks from me also. I found a used Garrett Infinium LS. How about between it and the GMT? I'm looking to use it around Stanton and the Weaver mining district.

Apples and oranges. Two completely different machines that both serve their individual purpose.

Thank you, Sean. I get it. PI handles mineralized ground better than a VLF but a VLF finds smaller gold.

Something like that. From what I have seen, is the new Minelab GPX5000 is the best of the best for gold. Alas, that will set you back at least 5k.

Cheers

To complicate matters a bit further - have you considered the Tesoro Lobo SuperTraq?  Lightweight, and a lifetime warranty.  Here's some info:
