I have taken a large piece of cardboard and cut it into 2 by 4 inch strips. Then on one side of each strip, I tape a variety of objects like current composite coins, older non-composite coins, pull tabs and other debris that have fooled me in the past. I also taped various combinations of objects, like a pull tab and a quarter, etc.
Then being careful not to ever mark the non-object side, I mix them up and lay them out with the object side down (obviously). Detect them.
I use this often to sharpen my detecting skills and will add a couple objects that have fooled me during the past season.
Though this does not help me with detecting deeper objects, it does help with my hearing and recognition skills.
