Its a green handle devil called ames.

The ames (whether blue,as in the older models, or green, or whatever), definitely seems to be the gold standard when it comes to garden digging tools that can be used in target recovery.   How they compare to lesche and other tools especially designed for metal detecting is open for debate.  I think they work as well or better than most of the higher cost tools, but probably not as well as some of the others.

I've had 3 of these tools and IMO are great when first starting out.  I would buy a second 1 and heres why.  In time due to prying the blade will fatigue and crack then snap (either where the blade meets the handle or where the handle connects to the gaurd) and if Murphy's Law has anything to do with it it will happen just after you drove an hour to this great hunting spot and now have a broken digger in hand.  The second will help you out of the situation and the bonus is that these diggers have a 25 year warranty so you can just take the broken 1 back to get a new one.

When you go to wally world again look thru all the diggers to find 1 that sharpe.  Did that and found a beauty that was as sharpe as a good steak knife (worth the few minute investment)  These blades are light but I do wish they to came with a better holder but I just stuff it into my tool belt and away I go.  For $7 you can't go wrong. Cool

Thats good advice Nova.  I have three spares I carry because they give diggers away as free gifts when you buy a MD from Kellyco.  That would be something to be out in the middle of nowhere with just one of anything (ah, except your wife of course   Shocked)
