It beats waving your hand repeatedly with dirt from the hole over the coil -or-
constantly picking up the detector to find where the object disappeared...
Also, there may be other goodies in the hole that can be easily found with the Pin Pointer.
Beats filling the hole then scanning the same spot again with the detector to find there is another goodie to be dug...
