Congratulations! This looks like some really neat finds!

I would want to think that the Demon Skull was most probably manufactured in Mexico and that it is made of Sterling Silver.

Keep up the good work!  Wink

Go Up Go Down

Went out for about 6 hrs straight today during 30-40 mph winds and hunted the canal site until after dark.  Found my first silver quarter!  Grin  Also an old lipstick case (see the thread

Finally started contacting some people for local old locations today.  Emailed the historical society and a man who owns what was an inn from the 1600s.  Going to contact another man tomorrow about another 1600s house that's currently being renovated.  I stopped by yesterday to look and the front yard is already all torn up. Sad  But there still might be something there and the sides and the back of the house look left alone so far.  He also has been a major supporter of the historical society and has been renovating really old houses in town so I'm guessing he'll okay it.  Smiley

Here's the quarter:

Go Up Go Down

Went out last night until 1:30 (I was tired today at work).  Clad, the whole clad, and nothing but the clad.  (Well, and an odd pull-tab and screw-top here or there.)  $1.39 towards batteries.  Found an old building on a 1903 map that, when comparing it to a modern map, I thought was leveled at the edge of where a ball field now is.  Got there about 10:30 and started scanning along the 3rd base line only to look up and see a really cool old building over the fence.  On reexaming the maps when I got home, not only had the stream I was using for location been run underground since then (which I already know) but a leg of it had been moved completely which had thrown me off.  Now to find out more about that building.

Went out again tonight about 10:30 after a semi-spat w/ the girlfriend.  It was a beautiful night out and detecting a white sand beach under a bright moon was a wonderful way to calm down.  Never turned my flashlight on once.  One thing I'd found I  thought felt awful thin for a quarter.  Got home, washed it off a bit, and it turns out to be my first buffalo nickel!  Cheesy  Not in good shape but I'm happy.  I'll have to see if I can clean it off a bit more to date it.  Also had found a few odd shaped objects that I'd put in my pouch with the trash but planned to go through it when I got home.  Good thing I did.  One is a pretty little leaf stud silver earring.  The other is a (cheap?) hollow heart w/ a pewter(?) clog attached to it.  I'll do picks later.  I can barely keep my eyes open.

Go Up Go Down

Forgot to mention that this beach, from the local town swimming spot, is fenced off and closed unless paying for most of the warm season, and, perhaps because of that, was nicely free of trash.  Made for a good location to practice digging everything.  Or almost everything, I left most of the iron alone.  Was nice easy digging too.  By the time I stopped, I could get the object in the first or second scoop most of the time.
