I found 247 nickels all dated 1936 in the remains of an outhouse.  I have no clue as to why they would be there but it was sure fun to find!

The Indian probably ate it.

An old 1950's blending machine.  Old house had been torn down and left where it lay.

My weirdest find on the beach. Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
Was a pair of girls' white tap dancing shoes. Idiot Idiot
They were down about 9 - 10 inches and were placed neatly side by side. Fountain
We certainly had a good laugh about them. Laughed my ass off Laughed my ass off

Tap dancing on the beach? Ha ha. Laughing Laughing
Soft shoe shuffle? Ha ha. Laughing Laughing
Egyptian sand dance? It goes on and on and on.

My weirdest find on the beach was a tooth rail from an old man  Wise. 4 teeth in total with some metal to hold them in place.  Shocked Yack when I touch it!

Back in my dredging days, found a miners pick all in one piece under a boulder I was dredging under. Soon as I got it to the surface it went to about 6 pieces. Still have the head to this day-cool.

Found a class ring in a river botton MD'n on my birthday, pretty cool as the date on the ring was the year I was born.

Weirdest find?  Three (3) Greek coins from the 1990's at a local park that was a resting and camping spot along the old Oregon Trail that was used from the 1840's onward!  Weird ,huh?                                             Detecting

Go Up Go Down

Near a park besides the river I found some pipe that had been made into a hammer or sorts, it had pipe inside the pipe and the bits were held in by rags. Then I realised that it was more of a weapon made by one of the park people (transients) that live there for a while and were moved on by the floods. It was about 8" down and I guess  it was covered by the 1974 Brisbane flood. The same area flooded last year but was a few feet lower.

I did some research and found out that the area was one of Brisbane's first speedways back in the late 20's early 30's and that was the reason I would occasionally find old spark plugs, bits of cable and bolts. It seems that when the mechanics finished working on their car they just threw the rubbish over the side of the speedway wall into the river.

The area is now a park, soccer field and weekend market, I doubt that many of the people that visit the area knew about its history or that it was used by transients. Now we see backpackers 'camped' by the river in their vans and there is still a community of park people but they have moved closer to the city behind a small industrial area.

Interesting site and one that I will visit again as it seems a good place to find pre-decimal coins which was what I was after.
