I wonder what's been the weirdest metal detecting find you've made?

Mine has been an old oven at approx 1 m depth, buried in the woods. I have no idea how or why it got there. I assume it would have been easier to dump it of at a waste site than to burry it down there !?!

Regards,

Christian

Although I'm new to this hobby I did find a old rusted Axe head in the flowerbeds in my garden at a depth of about 11inches  while testing out my detector. The strange thing is i have dug the flower beds over at least 20 times in the past and never saw it

@ stonebreaker: Do yoz have any idea what the zinc bar has been used for?

@ Warren: Did this axe once belong to you or was it lost there by someone else?

Best wishes,

Christian

Found a six pack of Jax beer at about 18 inches, out in the middle of a pasture where some civil war action took place?Huh???
And yes the cans all where full of beer. They where the old cans that you had to use a " church key' to open them. No I
did not drink any, but it did cross my mind, it was a Hot Day! Happy Hunting! Ben

I got  two of em. one is an English lead cup weight(dates 1100) I found on the Spanish Trail in New Mexico On the continental divide, that trail was used in the 1700's?  How-Why??
The other was a dentist's Pick like they use picking around on your teeth, with a Marajuana butt stuck on it at a phone booth  Smiley

Hi Christian. The Axe head must have been from the previous owners of the property. My girlfriend has lived in this property for over 28 years and she cant recall anything about it.

Pretty good strange finds. I guess mine would be a mining cart wheel I found high up on the side of a mountain, about two hundred feet below the top. I  spent a lot of time poking around looking for the shaft , but there is no sign of it. Huh? Now where did I put that thing?
