Actually, that's why I got the Yukons...I just haven't made the time yet to get them up to snuff so I can field test them in the gold fields.   They had a good rep as nugget finders back in the day.

BA whats the weight of the old machines ??

Back in the day everyone that I hunt with used  Garrett or D-Tex and Bounty hunters, Compress, and Jetcos as back up's. It was not till the late 70's early 80's that Whites caught on along the coast.
There was a outfit in Houston that sold Relco by mail order for 19.95 biggest piece of junk ever made but they sold 100's of them. Roth Industries was another company that made detectors for a few years I know little about them. There was several other company's making and selling back in the 70's but thats all I remember right now.

Won't know for sure until I load the batteries into them....but the nugget is small enough that it'll still be light.   The 77-B will probably be a lot lighter than my Fisher Impulse from 1994....probably about what that Red Baron weighed.   The Whites Goldmaster is just flat out heavy (glad I got my wife something newer to use).

I don't see why not, although Seldom and GD would have a better feel for that than I would since they've both been moderators for a lot longer than I have been.    It sure doesn't hurt to at least run it past Christian.

John, it is easy enough to do inside of any topic. Just think about a poll and start one by asking a question that doesn't need to be modified later. A Yes/No question like:
"Do you have a favorite metal detector that you would nominate above all others for a Hall of Fame? Please discuss your choice in this topic."
Have a Yes/No answer but don't expect too many Noes. Everyone has a favorite. The purpose of the poll is so you can place it into the Polls topic forum and have it stand out.

Name the topic "Detector Hall of Fame" and you have an instant hall of fame. I believe this will garner a lot of comments.

Ok.....couldn't get to the White's Goldmaster but it is a 66TR and dates to the early 70's as do both of these Compass Yukons

Great pics!  Thanks for showing us.

Certainly brings back memories.  It was the first metal detector I ever owned.  I bought it at a car boot sale/yard sale for a few pence and had many happy hours of fun searching with it!
