i'm working on a project using a bounty hunter and i have took the coil that was round and made it oval for my application but now it's acting strange and not working to good i taped it so the wires are tight but i was wondering it has two coils of wire is it possible to use just the inner coil or outer coil and it still work?

No!    They Don't work that way.

Bounty Hunters are a VLF type detector.

By changing the Shape of the Coil you took it way out of Tune.

Buy your self a Replacement Coil and Leave it alone.  Bounty Hunter Coils are Cheap!

I think your way over your head on this one.    LOL

Take your self to school on VLF Detector Design and see what you did Wrong.

I don't think Bounty Hunter makes one but I will check.

If you had all the Info, you could make one but it's not a easy task.

Go to the Tech Talk forum and take a look.

I know nothing about the Garrett.

Being SMT I wouldn't mess with it.

Contact Garrett and see about sending it in.

Nothing on the Speaker or head Phones?
