I also have the Automax v4 pinpointer and it is junk. You have to put the item right against the probe for it to work. The best I can get is 1/2" or so. I bought 3 of the cen-tech's just in case mine breaks.  I also have the Fisher pinpointer and it is a little better than the Automax.

I recently got an AutoMax pin-pointer and agree its a peace of crap. Way to long and clipping it to your belt is a joke as its a pain in the b-hind. The knobs on it a rubbish and its sensitivity is not much better then looking in the hole and using your eye's.

Lucky it come for free with my Kellyco order otherwise I would be feeling very ripped off.  Cry

Just ordering 2 x Garrett Deluxe Pro-Pointers and can't wait for them to arrive.  Grin
