I am wondering what principles coin pin pointers use. I can see them working as BFO and PI. It may also be possible with a three coil arrangement on a ferrite rod, using IB or phase angle. Any links would be gratefully received.

I don't remember any BFO types.

Most older types used IB or TR.

PI seem to be the new wave!
