Good morning nickel_n

I used some glue two components special for the plastic as the "Loctite Super Glue 3".

There is an applicator pencil to be crossed on both edges then to deposit the glue on only one of the edges.

The other solution is to let go beyond the resin bi-components during the stage of filling, to delay the lid by supporting over, as it the surplus of resin will cover joints, it will then be necessary to file and to sand.

Amicably
Luke

Go Up Go Down

I have been reading up on makeing a coil, and alot of places said it was not something to take lightly and might should be left alone. Also there was talk of alot of wire going into a coil. The double D does not look like it takes a whole lot of wire. The yellow and green are a twisted pair like phone wire only bigger for sure. The other black cable I can not tell as it is jacketed.  I also cant tell how big the coil is but looks as big as a plate would be. I have seen the cost of the double D's and was wondering compared to the over the counter cost, how much did you save and how comparable to the factory one's does your perform.
Is the double D good for trashy areas and gold, coins? When you made yours what did you have in mind to go after, and what is the cap on how big you would make your self a DD. The big question after hearing all the how hard it is to get a coil right to use-and im sure this is not your first coil...Is the DD as hard to make as i have read coils to be. And would makeing one for an XLT be worth while?
Im sorry Im new also to this forum, not new to detecting. Ive been going through this forum as often as I can, and yours is the first ive came across that incourged building a coil vise not doing it and looking at your pictures you have done a fine job. Im looking for ward to meeting new people and reading alot, I hope to not be bothering to many folks with questions as I have in this post. Sorry in advance. And Thank you in Advance....

The Double D coil's benefit is that it is much quieter and more stable because the coils counterbalance each other. You sacrifice depth and the ability to easily pinpoint your target. A Double D is extremely hard to get used to when it comes to pinpointing.

I also just noticed that Luc's orientation of his Double D coil is 90 degrees from the normal orientation. The side to side sweep should have the vertical axis of the coil overlap and on his, that's in the parallel to the sweep. His search pattern will be very, very narrow.

Thank you GD for the information. If you had ESP you would know I was thinking about you today and yesterday. I froze my butt off. I dont know how the people up North do it. We are having some low temps even for us here in Va. And the weather fibbers are informing us we have about 5 more days to look forward to extra low temps. I'm not a cold weather person at all, so pretty much all day I was wishing I was Down Under with you basking in the 100 degree plus weather you are enjoying,,,,I can deal with heat way more than I can deal with the cold. Last year at this time I was still rideing my Motorcycle in to work. With only a few days below 30. I didnt much feel like weathering 24 degress this morning,,,,,Nope...You have answered some of my other post too,Thank you,,,
Is the DD worth in vesting in,,,how much depth do you lose,,,pin pointing i can get around, i Learned from a machine that has no pin point period to be patient. Well with that machine I went to a smaller coil, but only after 3 years of dealing with it. seems to work well with a smaller coil..in spite of no pin point,,,,
