Yep I know when I was diamond diving off the west coast (SA) we were not allowed to have any form of UV light with us as some guys would spend the night looking for them.

Diamonds are the only ones that will reflect the UV light. At night if there is one on the ground it will show up like a purple dot and all you have to do is pick it up just be careful for IDB  Grin

It's a police unit that take great pleasure in locking people up that are in the possession of uncut diamonds. It stands for "Illegal Diamond Buying" they are a crooked bunch that will do any thing to make a bust.
