Hello

OK so how do you wind a coil?

i have 2 wires comming from my coil. Going to two different connectors.

Is this the same wire going in and comming out?

Or is this 2 wires going in, in two different loops?

Iam still working on the pi detector.

can someone explain this in laymen terms wire for wire?

Thanks
Brian

P.S. just a simple diagram. Screw the lux, voltage, impedence, ohms, capatance, hennery and the other eight husbans.just a simple drawing showing all connectors in and out for a pi coil with 2 wires.

It's not going to be a simple answer just because you wish for it. A coil such as you describer is probably a dual coil with active components. The first thing for you to do is to add the Brand and Model of your detector to EVERY question you have. Since you didn't do that, anyone who wants to help you is inconvenienced by having to track back through this thread to try and figure it out.

By now it should be quite apparent to you that buying one is your best option. If you don't understand the answers you have already received, then you are not really capable of building your own coil. This forum is not an engineering course for beginners.

Hello

I have covered alot of research on the making of pulse induction metal detectors placed by fellow Thunkers. (and Others) not one of them say to solder wire A to pin A wrap around coil jig and then wire A to pin A or to pin B.

If i have missed somthing i opplogize. and humble myself for forgivness.

I am working on a minelab F1A4 pi detector.

Brian

Make your request in two questions, Brian. First, ask if anyone knows the pinout or wiring diagram for the F1A4 detector coil. Once you find that out, you can wire your new coil. Nobody can give you the information you need because there's no standard coil wiring scheme out there. Every manufacturer and every model they make is often different on purpose. They sell more coils if each model is unique. If they were all the same, you could just plunk one of your old ones from any model onto your new one and shuffle off to the park.

Now, to move on, ask in this forum or the Minelab forum for the electrical specifications including the pinout of your machine's coil.

Hello

I got my answer on the minelab site that F1A4 minelab detector has two pins one pin is for TX/Rx and the other is for ground.

Also that the coil starts at 1 pin and ends at the other pin. and that the coax cable (extra fine) is only the wire from the detector to the coil wire. and that the coil wire is made from litz wire.

Now all i have to do is make measurements (ohms, micro hennery,s etc)of the coil that came with the detector. and match this with what ever size coil i build.

I am hoping to get the coax from minelab if they can find some.

They also have a lead acid 6 volt rs232 datalogger that replaces the 4 d cell pack that i also hope to find someware
hopefully at a reasonable price.

Thank You for all your Patience
Brian
