Picked up a IO-105 from the recycle yard today. I got it for 15$, couldnt pass it up even though it is older than I am. I found a schematic for the 104 which was identical except for the dual trace. I poked around the main power board and am getting most of the correct voltages, however a couple are not up to par. Looking for a link or place to find a manual for it. Here is the linked schematic
{alt}
Just curious if anyone has revamped one of these, from what Ive found they drift pretty bad, would I be better off putting in some regulator chips to even out the voltages, or is the transformer the way to go?

Sorry I realized I linked the small schematic

You're looking for an assembly manual? An operator's manual?

Either way, try here:

I was hoping for both, I can figure it out off the schematic but the assembly manual is supposed to have pointers for diagnosing troubles. Apparently someone bought the right to reprint the manuals and is forcing all the pdf's off the web, but there is no way Im going to pay over twice what I payed for the unit to get the manual.

I dont mind paying a reasonable fee to get a manual, but $40+ is just ridiculous. I will find it eventually, I have found the 102, 103, and 104 so far, I guess the 105 wasnt as common. Ive been wanting a scope for a bit now, it will make diagnosing stuff so much faster. So far I have found an open resistor hopefully causing the transistor to not turn on fully, it is out-putting +5 instead of +15. And my internet has been off and on for weeks now, its been driving me nuts trying to find stuff on the web.

Not if it's an original manual it's not. An oscilloscope is a valuable piece of test equipment and worth a lot more than that if functioning. You  know that. People who gather manuals together from swap meets, estate sales or garage sales deserve to make an income. The prevailing price is what you see there and if you can afford to wait, do so. You might just find one at a ham radio operator exposition or a random garage sale. If you want it fixed sooner rather than later, stop complaining and pay the price. Otherwise, just keep looking but do not, under any circumtances, criticize the VOLUNTARY help you got here from me by complaining about price. It's undignified.

Ok I wont complain about price, I got a reply back from the link you gave me and now have a line on a loaner manual. I am a big believer in fixing stuff, rather than tossing it out. I can usually find what I need over the web, and have taught myself how to work on electronics. I am still learning a lot, I know you have been designing and working on electronics for many years. You could probably get it up and running in your sleep, but I am going to have to work for it.

 So far I have fixed several tvs and over a dozen monitors as well as a bunch of other assorted stuff, this piece of test equipment will undoubtedly make it easier for me to fix my many projects. So in a word yes this will be valuable to me, but as always cash is in short supply. I have been searching for one I can fix because I cant afford to get one in working condition.

 If you dont mind I was wondering about the cardboard capacitors, they seem very large for the values on them (1000 mfd 35v) is 2.5 inches long and .75 inches in diameter. I have electrolytics of that value that are .25 in diameter and 1" tall; Am I missing something here? Or were the dielectrics of that time that ineffective?

Cardboard capacitors nearly always use wax and paper (not waxed paper) for the dielectric. Heat and age take their toll. Look on the device to read the value and replace all with ceramic type of the same value or electrolytic if they have a plus or minus sign on them. Go here for an amazingly inexpensive place to buy parts. They have no minimum and the best prices on the Internet.
