Was always partial to finding lost treasure, as a kid we would walk the ski slopes in the summer time and find quarters and dimes on the surface and watch others with metal detectors dig up pennys..llol Thats when I first wanted a metal detector. But my all time favorite movie was GOONIES, lots of good laughs...Baby Ruth anyone ! BOOBIE TRAPS

It wasn't "Treasure Island" for me.  It was something that came out in the mid-50's and had a dashing, heroic pirate Captain.  He got the girl and the gold!  I've seen so many versions of Treasure Island that I would have remembered it it was that one!

But,  "Goonies" for me is one of my all-time favorites, too!  Kind of thing I always wanted to do when I was those kid's ages!  Still want to do it!  Go Goonies!                 Detecting

My grandma gave me a original set of Treasure Island with Basil Rathbone.   The old Bakelite Records.

I only listened to it about 1000 times.

Could that have had a effect?

Arfie it might have been Captain Blood, it was an Errol Flynn film.

Also of course obviously Indiana Jones... but before that was:

Boy on a Dolphin - A Sophia Loren movie about an ancient sunken statue found by a sponge diver girl.

A movie about a lost church bell in a swamp, blown away in a hurricane, and the hunt for it. I can't find the name it was an old Disney film I am fairly sure. The lost bell of somewhere.... I think.

The Deep

Cutthroat Island

King Solomon's Mine

Romancing the Stone

The Goonies

The Count of Monte Cristo

Congo - because Tim Curry cracks me up with the line "You will be having your laughing and I will be having mine..."

Fool's Gold and Sahara are also great stuff.

Wow that was an interesting one. Did that movie have Kurt Douglas and Tony Curtis in it?

Hardluck , i think the film you may be thinking about was "The Vikings" 1958

Hello Wuzneme

Thats the one, I some how mixed it up with the long ships.

Oh another treasure movie was Kellys Heros, Clint eastwood, Donald sutherland about a group of soldiers who decide rob a bank in the middle of WW2

Kelly`s Hero`s is definately up there.

Donald Sutherland plays a cracking chilled hippy tank driver.  Smiley
