	MY BEST COIN FINDS: TWO(2) 1916 D MERCURY DIMES « on: February 03, 2009, 07:45:32 PM »

I feel very fortunate to have dug up two 1916 D Mercury dimes in my md'ing career. Th nicest one was found back in the 70's in the outfield of a Midwestern Illinois park ball diamond. Notice the detail on it. The poorest one was found in the front yard of an old couple's home. It was found in the '80's. Back then, I had some pretty bad digging habits and probed with a screwdriver as indicated by the nicks on the coins. I have learned a lot in later years. Many coin dealers don't even have one of these.

In about 1990 I was detecting with a buddy. He was about 20 feet to my right and guess what he found! That was the closest I have ever come to a '16d in 21 years of metal detecting!
