GoldDigger is right on.  I don't have sidewalks here but driveways or any other place people get in and out of vehicles
is a good place for coins.
I have found many items next to parking areas for parks, in the parks or anywhere people congregate.  If you can
find an old timer, perhaps your grandfather assuming you have family there, ask him where they would go picnic or where
the Fair was held, where the old swimming hole was.....  The possibilities are really endless but do a little research, talk
to people in the area and just get out there.

I have found lots of coins in my yard and still go over it when I don't have time to hit some other area.  Oh, and just
because someone has hunted it doesn't at all mean it's hunted out.  As you learn your detector, you will get better at
identifying good signals and junk and will find more.

Keep diggin

Thanks for the help. I know my grandparents had a farm that was over 100 years old thinking about getting started there. Again thank you for your help.

Howdy, Brian.

     Welcome from Arizona.
You've received some good tips (especially from GD and aluminizer).   This is a question that obviously gets discussed frequently (we've probably all asked it at one time or another), so there   are a lot of answers that you will find as you sift through past posts (you are doing that, aren't you?  It's a great way to learn quickly).    I've pulled a link to one of the better discussions for you

Basically, you're looking for any place people might have gathered and lost things.   The more time you spend learning your local history, the better your odds of finding the "old" stuff, but you can't find anything if you don't swing the machine----and your own yard and neighborhood is a great place to start, especially if you live in an older part of town (or in a suburb that just happens to be built on a long forgotten town).

For instant results search under the bleachers at your local high school, that will always produce a good amount of coins and sometimes jewelry. Find out where your local fairgrounds are those are hot spots and rental properties are also a good one to search if you can get permission. If you have an old church I would search there as well. Good Luck and happy hunting !
