Diamond discoveries on the rise at park
By: Jim Williamson - Texarkana Gazette - Published: 03/11/2009

Diamonds are apparently sparkling at the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro, Ark., this year.

Seventy-three diamonds were found in February, 50 more than were discovered in February 2008, said Waymon Cox, park interpreter.

?This early rise in 2009 diamond finds resulted in 115 diamonds being found during the first two months of this year, while only 79 were found before March 1, 2008,?

Hello golden eagle; Is this your first trip the the diamond mine? You can rent equipment there at reasonable prices. Many friendly folks around to show you what to look for and how to find diamonds. Several lectures are given that you can attend for free. I have been there three times with about a total three weeks. Would go again and highly recommend the trip.

Thanks for the interest everyone. I have been trying to study what raw diamonds look like on the internet. I am looking to puchase a magnifeing headband/glasses for suface hunting on my hands and knees. (not very dignified) also thought I might use a post hole digger to get down several feet without moving a lot of soil then take that material to the (wash house) for sifting drying and spotting. I imagine from the topic of this thread that you all feel like me. ie that there is a treasure hunter in all of us.

I am curious oro, How did you do? Did you have a perferred place to stay in Murfeesboro? Sounds like you had fun. I am going with my 80 year old dad and mom. We used to rock hound when I was a kid. I fugure I would do most of the heavy work while they sort Dad is excited to go I am not so sure about mom.Dad stlll has some lapadary equiptment from years ago I understand you can find agate and other semiprecious stones there.
