I would prefer buying, but around here it is illegal to own/buy one...

My grandmother is from Transylvania.
So what is the penalty if found using a metal detector in Transylvania ?

Have you gone to the Black Sea and metal detected ? My little girl is from Slobzza (?). I have been to Romania 5 times now. Did not know if I could bring my metal detector or not would love to do the beaches.

Hi,
DO NOT bring your metal detector. It is prohibited by law to own/use one without a special permit. From what i know the fine is around 3000 euros(i might be mistaken about this), but i am sure that it is illegal.
About prospecting, i am not sure you would find much there... 
In the old ports some gold and silver coins were found, but that was while digging to build streets in Constanta.
Enjoy the Black Sea. If you insist on prospecting, look fore some ...  more isolated places.

I was thinking on the beaches were everybody goes for holiday. You all like to wear your gold chains to the beach. Maybe fine some old lay(?)money.
