Go Up Go Down

Hi everyone,

I'm new to all this and planning to buy my boyfriend a metal detector for his birthday, but could do with advice on what to go for please. We're in wet North West England and I would imagine most searching will be inland but we've got lots of coast not too far away. It will be hobby more than anything, but he does take his hobbies seriously, so I don't want to get a really cheap one, but one which will give him a good start for a sensible price.

Many thanks in advance for any advice anyone can offer me. Hopefully we'll be able to post a find one day!!

Hi  Teasle

First thing you will have to do is decide how much you want to spend then got to the different websites like Whites, or Minelab and so on. Once you have found some detectors in your price range tell us about them and we will guide you in the right direction.

All the best
Xavier

Hi Teasle. I envy your boyfriend. lol Smiley But seriously, have a look detectors such as Minelab X-Terra 705 or Garrett AT Pro. These metal detectors are average price category, but will suit both beginners and professionals.

Welcome to THunting.com.   Your boyfriend is fortunate.

The Garrett AT-Pro has the advantage that it is submersible to 3 meters, so slipping in the wet grass or in the surf while beach hunting won't mean instant death to the detector.

Welcome from NM.

Use the Info Above.

Without knowing what his hunting interest would be, I don't know what way to point you.

 Huh?

Thanks for your comments everyone. Much appreciated!

I ended up not wanting to risk a large expense, so told him, and he's like a school kid getting excited about the idea of having a metal detector  Smiley

The comment that really got his interest was the detector which is submersible to 3m. Is this actually suitable for under water detecting for an extended period of time then? He is also a diver, so getting in water isn't a problem for him. I'd like to keep the budget to only a couple of hundred pounds though, and these things can be so expensive! I think it might have to be a present for the next few birthdays and christmas...

Well come from Melbourne Australia.
I would go for the AT-pro especially if he is a diver. It won’t be long before you have rings on your fingers

I can't help to wonder how much he has spent on you in the past 12 months? Just get the right thing and he will bring you much GOLD
