Hello all,

Just wanted to say hello & check in with you here as a new member.

My Name is Jim, and I'm from upstate NY. I'm not new to detecting, and have some limited beach & surf experience and so I signed on-board to start this revival off the right way!

What type/model/brand of metal detector do you have? I just purchased my Garrett Ace 350 off the KellyCo website a couple days ago and I'm chomping at the bit for it to arrive!
How long have you had it? Any major finds with it yet?

I've setup a youtube account (with the same ID as this forum) and plan to post more videos of finds on there as well - certainly when I find my first silver coin. The video filming is kind of fun, you learn over time what to record and not record.

The Catskills are only about 1 hr south, so it's a really nice place in the summer!

Hello Zul32,

I've got an older Garrett XL500 PI machine that I've had for a good 12 years or so, and I'm now just wanting to get back into the hobby.
I think I want to get another machine, maybe a Minelab beach machine or even an Ace 250 I was looking at, but to be honest I'm unsure?

I know that the technology has all changed on these detectors since I used to be into it years ago!

Looking for some info & advice and so I joined up to meet you guys and jump right back into this awesome hobby!
