Go Up Go Down

In the Organ Mountains, There is lost of gold along with the turquoise to go along with it.  I used to live in the town of Organ.  I am planning a trip there in about two weeks to do some nugget hunting in an area I know that produces nugget around 1/2 oz. each. I know of this area because of an old Rockhound that had a shop in the town of Organ across the road from the Trading Post that used to sell nuggets.  He would go out about every 3 months and fill a marble bag full of nuggets in about an hour while I set up our camp to stay over night and go back to town the next day.  So, Homefire, I told you about this trip earlier and if you want to come, just let me know. Smiley  Not this weekend, I have to go to Farmington, but 7/20/2012 I should be headed that way to stay the weekend.  Got my 9mm holstered and will be headed out.  9mm is just for the snakes. Shocked

Go Up Go Down

Well, the time has come.  I am getting ready to head to the Oro Grande Mountains.  There is Gold in those mountains!  Just got to go out and find the stuff.  I will be going to a spot where an Old Rock Hound used to pick up nuggets for his shop.  He used to fill up a marble bag full in about an hour.  Hope there is still some left for me.  I am taking a buddy and hope that he can keep up with me.  We will have at least a 10 mile hike to get to the spot.  The drive time from Albuquerque, is about 5 1/2 hours and then the walk.  I plan on taking just the necessities to do my hunt.  Hoping to find a road close to the area so we don't have to walk as far.  My buddy is 71 years young. Both of us are taking a pistol for snakes and coyotes, won't do to well against a bear or mountain lion. Should scare the hell out of them. Grin  Hey Homefire and Jay Jay, I will send you a PM and give you two my phone number (cell) if you want to meet up and go to the site also just let me know.  Will probably stay the night in Organ, NM just east of Las Cruces or we might stay in Las Cruces tonight and get going early tomorrow morning.  It has been 50 years since I have been to this site, so it may be a challenge to find this area again. Shocked Grin Wink Huh?
