Hay Scoot,
I have been successful at findin jewelry for two years
now. I do it on dry land for the most part. Check my
album,

You may have an advantage with the beaches I suspect
are available to you. Beaches seem to be the best places.
On dry land, few places produce better than a tot lot
(playground). School tot lots, if they are available to the
public also.
In tot lots, use no discrimination. Dig every response,
even those iffy ones until you know just exactly what it is.
If you use the 2500, set it for less depth. Be sure to use
the higher frequency and a small coil. You can use all
metal in the open, but it may give you fits around the
steel playground equipment.
I do not know, but in the end the 250 might work better.
I have never used a 2500.
I can tell you this, my favorite tot lot machine is the Tesoro
Compadre. My Compadres have found more gold than any
other machine. That is because they do best in tot lots.
If you looked at my album, you know what I look for.
I seldom use my discrimination higher than foil. I never
notch. Programs seem usless for finding jewelry to me,
so I just use simple machines with analog controls and
no display. These type machines respond and recover
very quickly, helping me to hunt in trash.
Coins are a little different. Displays work much better for
coin hunting. To me, coins are just one type of artifact.
Most artifacts are lower conductors and not round. It is
a different type of hunting, somewhat.
If I did not bore you to death, then, I hope that helps.
Happy Huntin,
Tabdog
