Welcome detectit. I only joined yesterday and have found the site extremely interesting. Added to that is the fact that people have taken the trouble to be most welcoming. The ring is a great find, sure it is not a 'posy' ring, as not all of them had inscriptions on the inside. I am from Scarborbough and a friend of mine found one, mayhaps inscribed, and once it had gone throught the necessary lawful processes he was offered ?600 (about $921 for our friends across the pond). I think he was so taken with it, as it was beautifully, and as he had never found one, he kept it. Can't say that I blame him, some finds are worth more than a few bank notes. I have found quite a lot of stuff, to me they are priceless as the are the photographs of my hobby. I hold some of them in my hand and my mind goes back to the very day I found them. It doesn't get any better than that!!!

Clapp Clapp Clapp well said kamikaze too many posts reflect how much an item is worth as opposed to the fact that you have the privelage of holding an item that was last held by man hundreds of years earlier,, recently i found a cut half of william the conquerer and most of the questions asked to me were towards its monetery value rather than its historical value

Hi seldom,  cool pic m8, lol.  It reminds me when i was out detecting and on this wall about 4 feet up was some grafitti which said smoking stunts your growth, and 2 feet below it someone had wrote you could have told me, lol. nice to here from you!.
I really do not do this hobby for the money, I have been detecting for 7 years and havent sold a thing and to be honest dont think that i have found anything of great value anyway,  I have found some interesting things tho,  recently a horses tooth, lol.
