Smiley Detecting  I will try and answer all historical questions, wrecks, etc abt Jamaica.. also anything on local agates/jaspers or island's geological make-up. Also have experience with smoking marlin.. for sale to local tourist interests.....  Started detecting in the 70's with a Garrett BFO (first musket balls) ..then a White's Amphibian (leaked).. then White's VLF Coinmaster V.( ate batteries and tuning difficult)... 20 yrs later, in Wyoming, visiting my sis, I bought a used White's Surf PI.. now this worked GREAT on the magnetic sand beaches of the south coast (where I live 2000 ft up)... White's,... for a small fee, gave me a new one, when my carelessness flooded it...YAH WHITE"S..!! Jamaica teems with sites and history, I just hav'nt the resources to follow them all up... Looking for a buyer for local agates (mine run )   tonyja   P.S. have these coins for sale (attached).... thats me at waterfall

I'm a new member also. I spent the summer of 1982 in Port Royal with Texas A&M, what a great place. Any news of what will happen there development wise?

so, were you there with the nautical archaeology program (or the Center for Maritime Archaeology and Conservation) ?

Jamaica is definitely on my short list of places to spend some time.

Thanks guys... OH... by the way, if you get an Email from  a BOBBY GOLDMAN  (once with Admiralty Co. out of Altlanta ) please IGNORE anything he has to say about a scam-ridden crypto-technology named   ATLIS... We in Jamaica, at the turn of the century/millenium had a bad experience wth Admiralty and the non-existent ATLIS ... I can provide supporting documents.. and press reports..)
DONT BUY IT nor BUY INTO IT !!!!!  One Love
....Note to all who ask about Port Royal... I'm a private individual who tries to keep the stuff real.. particularly our history.. Since Bob Marx ( a bit over-demonized ) and A & M , there has been just a lot of talk about P.R. As a small country, beset by all sorta developmental problems, preservation of our historical heritage has tended to be done by sponsored foreigners, ..the National Heritage Trust does'nt pay much.. You can see from the recent gun battles in Kingston, that there is a lot that needs to be rectified... and documenting our history ( yes! it IS a good tourist draw ) just is'nt one of them.

Goffe: I know all about them! They have been telling me their technology will be ready soon for almost 10 years. Do you know if it is possible to get real permits for shipwreck recovery in Jamaica now?
