Greetings

I inherited a Phantom (Richard Ray, Manvel Texas) VLF/TR 15MHz metal detector from my Dad, but I don't have any instructions or documentation.  Is there anyone here who could help?

Thanks,
Mark

And while you are waiting for a response, welcome to THunting.com.   You'll find plenty of useful info here that will help you once you figure out how to turn that machine off and on and what to do with the settings.

Thanks for the welcome, B.A.  I'm looking forward to learning and sharing!

Thanks, GDigger!  Another site had a newspaper article about Richard Ray but indicated they thought Mr. Ray was no longer with us.  I'm sure he will be surprised to read that news!  No better resource for information than the original builder!

Regards,
Mark

Welcome from CT. Keep us informed how you make out. Sounds interesting. It is probably 15Kc (old geiser lingo)  or 15 Khz, not Mhz. You can get a lot of help and find all kinds of info here.

You are right, Jim - my mistake.  15KHz is what the label says.  I'm guessing I'll eventually be able to send email, but my account doesn't provide that option yet.  I found Mr. Ray's listing, but can't send him a message. May be an operator error  .  .  .

Thanks!

Don't confuse e-mail with a PM. Anybody can send a PM. There are two ways to do that. The first is to look at the person's profile and down under the Additional Information (near the lower left portion) you will see an option to send a private message. Mr Ray obviously doesn't want e-mail or his button would be available.

The second way is to go to one of his posts and use the PM icon under his image. It looks like a cartoon bubble just below the View Inventory section.

He's already addressed the issue of his rumored demise but you'll give him something to chuckle over if you ask him whether or not he is still alive.

Many Thanks!

Procedures are always clearer the second time.

Mark;
     I'm sorry, since I've had this stroke and the kids threw away a lot of my stuff. I don't have a copy. Not even my books. A friend zeroxed a few copies of the Cocos Island book.
