Welcome from New Mexico

You need to look at or for a PI circuit that is Stable, Quiet (From External RFI), and can pull a Sample Signal 7 to 10 us behind the TX shut off.  This is were the Gold Lives in the Time Domain.

There are a few good circuits for this in the Down Load section.

I my self have been playing with the old Garrett Sea Hunter XL500.  Original Sample time started at something like 40us and with the Replacement of one resister you can bring it down to 7us.

The XL200 version is the same circuit board and comes with a Sheilded Coil if you can find one.

Stability of this unit Sucks as it has a Unshielded Coil.

Some day when I am Rich and Famous, I'll build a new coil and run a ground line to the 0 Volts Ground.

Another good one to look at is the Whites Surf Master Schematic.

There is a PCB available for this one if you act fast.

Thank you everyone
Thanks for your advice. At this stage my main concern is over voltage protection (OVP) of the amplifier circuit. I am going to experiment with coil designs and will use high voltage & current for tests. I have seen some OVP concepts on the MAXIM website but not sure which is the most robust.
