Nah... The sleepless nights are now for us utility folks Grin. Just did 12 hours and have 5 hr rest and back at it tomorrow 5AM. We have crews coming in from out of state. Lots of powerlines down from trees. The ground was saturated and the wind just knocked trees over yanking out root ball and all!! Lots of big old trees too! We'll be at it for a few more days for sure. 1st priority for the line men is restoring power to the eating places... Wink

Clapp Good to hear you made it thru but bummer about all the work, on the other hand good overtime huh? take your MD with ya and check out some of those tree bulbs,  the really old might be full o stuff, lol. And yeah we sent some crews out from Indiana, dont know where they went but they were on the news going out. I agree the eating places should top of the list for repai. Brings back memories of katrina Thumbs Down, nothing open then, MRE's were a hot comodity tho.

Mudflap, thanks for doing an often dangerous and hard job.  Got friends that are (or were) linemen.  Had to go out in all kinds of condition to get the power on!  We really don't realize how much we depend on the utilities until they aren't there, then we whine and cry about not getting it on fast enough.  Most people just don't realize what goes into getting it restored.  They seem to think some guy in an office throws a switch or something!  Thank you and your co-workers for the great work you do. Clapp   Great

I have a friend I was in Viet Nam with who lives in Sanford.  Anywhere near you?

Don't forget to take advantage of your detecting opportunities if you ever get the time!  Detecting

Close. I designed and built the feakin switch <grin> Grin Grin . Built and program the SCADA system (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), Microwave multi-point distribution system, and all the other cool goodies so the lazy a$$ systems operators can sit on their duffs and throw the switch!!  Wink  Grin    Only had to work 16 hours today. Down to only 500 customers out. Had a 115KV transmission line fault and our relays showed it to be 2500' outside of a substation. Sure enough 2500' found a tree on one phase! The relays today are like the newer detectors. Pretty smart!

I'll make it to the beach yet.....with the fresh batts. Thanks for reminding me.... gotta do a cell rebuild on a whites pack. The ones for RC cars at radio shack will fit perfect in the Whites case. Just have to take off the shrink wrap.
