I agree that what happened to this guy was wrong. I call it entrapment. If he's never had any offenses before, than most likely he will get off light. Heres what most people don't know. Please Register or Login you cant do it. It's a no no. On private land thats another story. If some one asked me. I found it my back yard. My property. If you try to sell it to someone and it was found at a state park you are guilty. Remember you found it on your property. Now if you live on a reservation and dig it up on your own property, you could be wrong too. So don't think you can get away with it by using that angle either. I know, I don't agree with all the laws, but the laws are the laws. You can't just start breaking them because you can. You will get caught sooner than later. If you sell them on line, they are watching you close. Trust me on this I know.

I don't call this entrapment. Just big brother trying to save the world. What makes me mad is the fact that no one can metal detect a national sea shore. Like the east end of Cape Cod. Atlantic side. Why. Because they want to preserve any treasures in there natural state. Even though the beach is erodeing. Oh. Did I fail to say that you can walk the beach. Dig big holes in the beach to make castles and bury people in. But you can not use a detector. I have heard stories of people going out at night. And finds change by the handfuls.
