It seems like this is what we get from these bloated Gov't. agencies. Too many
people working for too many agencies that we bankroll. You would think there are more important problems than to allow these people to sit around trying to find someway to justify their existence. I'm a firm believer in the "Don't Tread on Me".

Just like the free market, justice will make everything even eventually.

 Manipulation only makes goods/relics more scarce and expensive while at the same time drying up known supplies for the manipulators/cartels (state/archies). As these prices rise, black marketeers will fill the holes due to profit motives, and they will care little about the history or other things of less monetary value at their dig sites.

When people are punished more for obeying the law than for breaking it, they will cease to capitulate. Why would anyone call someone who was going to come and control/regulate or steal from/imprison them ?

Sometimes the only way to beat the system is to join it...   Wink

As another said on this topic you would think that the goverment has better things to do and cases to prosecute, such as serial killers, etc,such as the persons responsible for the banks failing so that they can line thier pockets etc I'm willing to bet that if this happened to a politican or even a kennedy the case would have been dropped or never have even occured. I do hope the charges against this person is dropped and that he has grounds to sue those involved for maliscious prosecution!!,,,, Best Wishes to all,,,,, Rob

You know you are not alone in these government seized collections and many people have been harrassed when out on picnics and hunting agates. I suggest that once you pay any fine it is proof of your guilt in the matter, then your screwed.
I would tell you to call Senator Malcom Wallop retired with the Frontiers Of Freedom in Sheridan, Wyoming concerning this matter. There was an exception to the antiquities act a 1979 law that President Nixon signed in to law and we wrote letters to our senators and our letter was read before congress and they ammended  the law to exclude surface finds for the people that had artifact hunting as a hobby. I am not in Wyoming any longer, but Malcom had some attorneys in Colorado that would work for free to help people with this problem. I am sorry it had to happen to you and it has been going on regardless of the fact that it is not against the law to hunt artifacts as long as your not in a burial site of a archeologogy site.
it would not hurt to look up Frontiers For Freedom and see what they have to offer and if they still exist. It may also be smart to place a call to Senator Malcom Wallop retired in Sheridan and get his thoughts on the subject. We belonged to the Frontiers Of Freedom for many years and we also checked before we left Wyoming to see if the law had been ammended and it had not been !!  Good Luck and sorry your being harrassed by OUR GOVERNMENT !!
