At first I was going to check out the frame under the cow. I brought it in the living room along with my trusty leather man, but my my wife talked me out of taking its life. The grand kids can sit on it and watch tv when they are over.

Did originally think bigger, but it ended up being about the normal size of a screen at one of the gem mines. It is bigger then one of the classifying pans though. When I look for one of the spring loaded rockers it will be one of the large ones. I've got the first sieve frame cut, partially together, and metal cut. Just ran out of screws the right size. I'll pick up the rest in the morning.

If'n it was me I'd use hardware cloth instead of that pricey decorative punch plate.  I used 1/4 & 1/8 inch in my classifiers made from 3 gal. ice cream tubs (yum that Tillamook ice cream) and some SS window screen for the smallest size.

A couple of the spots I have stopped at were using punched plates. They used punch plate since it lasts a lot longer. Now theirs does go through a whole lot more use then I'll probably ever do.

Thats the thing as a part time or recreational miner the equipment doesn't take the beating that full time operations give theirs.  I don't know what you paid for your punched grill, but when I saw a piece (18 X 24 inch) of round hole punch plate at my local hardware store I thought how cool that is until they rang it up, $37.00, ouch.  Needless to say I didn't buy it, I can buy oodles of hardware cloth for $37.

It wasn't very bad. Less then half that price. The smallest roll of cloth was about $12 and this piece was $16.

I would say you live in a much larger market than I do, my little hamlet, pop. 4500, so prices are going to be higher in this neck of the woods.

This was the only type/size that low. I really wanted round hole, but did not want to pay that much. Can't remember exactly but around what you paid. There's a few manufacturer/commercial only outlets around here. I may talk to my brother in law about checking prices on.  He owes me big time so...

I did not make it by the hardware store today. But I'll be able to pick up the stuff in the morning.

Alright this is it for a while. I'll probably drop the top level next week. But this gets me started. Thinking about trying it out next week just past the nude beach hunting for fossils and points.  If I do it will be by myself. The wife is working.  Shocked
