I am going to build a sluice using aluminum for the trough. What thickness should I use. Keep in mind that I have to work it by hand unless I can get a place to bend it for me? I am thinking 1/32" or .032.

1/32 is good.   Take it to a sheet metal shop that does air conditioning duct work.   I did and they only charged me a few dollars.

That is awfully big.

One of mine is 6" wide and 4ft long and 4" tall.   That one takes quite a bit of water to run.

For at home clean up, I use a version of the POOP tube.

Problem with the splash block is the ridges don't run all the way across and they are rounded. Have a couple but didn't work like I thought it should. The gutter cap stuff is kinda flimsy I thought. I might have spent a few days inside Home Depot and Lowes looking for goodies.... Grin

I have thought of using the vinal fenceposts and cutting them in half for a four inch sluice. could make two 8ish footers

This one has holes for the fenceboards but there are some without just couldn't find a link

Alloffroad,

Me thinks that 1/32 would be a tad thin especially for a sluice that long and folding in the middle.  The commercial guys use 1/16 because it gives both strength and lightness.  But like Homefire I think 4' is a bit long and 6" is a little tall, I think 3'L X 4"T would be easier to handle and a lot lighter if you plan on strap'n it to your back and trek'n a distance to the stream.  Wise

Gramps

I will take that into consideration Gramps. I am in agreeance with the sides. 3-4" sides would be better than 6" sides. The 1/16th inch thickness would be better as long as I can get somebody to bend it for me.

T-6 will not bend.  It brakes.

Just for a price.
