I still see it as a Double Standard.

Agreed its a double standard thats why I am saying if we had a couple of folks there that could talk to the media make the point that dredging is dredging maybe they would investigate it use them to put presser on the lawmakers. Most major news stations now have investigating reporters and this is right up their ally they live for stories like this but it will take someone on the ground in Cal not Texas or New Mexico.

perhaps a preliminary way to ban dredging all together, I wonder if at the top the key players are fisheries and wildlife services (sorry as i am not familiar with U.S. services, I'm Canuck). Up here the waterways are highly protected and you dam near need a permit to look at the water lol.

It is a double standard or at least leaning towards a double edge sword. It makes zero sense to birth mercury dredge and evict gold dredge. So does that mean that the now dredgers retain a mercury dredge permit and let gold be a waste by-product of mercury collection..............Perhaps if one had a mercury permit and in their collection of mercury they also retained any gold that has come into contact with mercury. That way the mercury could be collected later off the gold to either hand in or sell depending on the restrictions (do's n dont's) of the permit agreement. Or would one throw that nugget back into the river when it is bearing mercury! Oh yes and after the mercury has been removed off the nugget, does one in good faith then take it back and throw it into the river.

I see this as a huge can of worms that will do not much more then inspire a huge "Pandora's box".

One way I see sites reclaimed it with heat. The machines cook the dirt and what comes out at the end is rendered safe. Good luck on getting them telling what they do with the gold lol.

If that or even part of the 9 mil goes thru, then the front and back door are both getting paid lol, dam another double edge lol ........... free money to do it and gold to make ur day just a few hours longer lol, staying after 5 that is, so who the heck is going to regulate what leaves the water.

It sounds the same there as it is here, the government has ten toes and they always seem to come in pairs yet you can only see one at a time lol.

Well the rules change a lot, to add to the confusion what people think the rules actually are. Instead of making a last stand I actually contacted the BLM and was given a number and email to the State Archeologist. I also was instructed to talk to the park rangers if in the parks. We may not like the rules, but best safe than sorry. Also a short but well spoken letter to your representative as they take office is yet another good way to get them at least thinking about it. No one knows if we dont speak up. We are the good guys and need the BLM and The Archys on our side. It only takes one bad experience to make you say to heck with it, Ill just do what I want. Im pretty sure we have all had that bad experience at the hands of a non elected official. Anyway, the BLM and Park Rangers are more than happy to help with the rules, and sometimes give you a good place to hunt.

I have NO IDEA what your talking about.

The Subject is the State Of California Legislature asking for 9 Million Dollars to Dredge.

Until the Funding is in place ,What does the State Archaeologist, park rangers and the BLM have to do with this?   NOTHING!

NOT THERE GAME!

You Did Mis Post this Right?

They would all Sign off on it anyways if they smelled enough Funds for a few Pet Projects.
