Dead lifts are great, but it is easy to hurt oneself if performed incorrectly. I personally love the dead lift. Try the turkish get up... that will work the whole body pretty intensely. I have a Russian friend that I work with a the hospital. He was in the Russian military and said one of the workouts that they did that was really productive was to take a piece of tank track throw it as far as possible and sprint to it... repeat for one-two miles. I find that those "primitive" workouts tend to be the best.

I guess if you don't have a piece of loose track tread lying around, you can always toss the odd head sized rock.

Those "make do" exercises are really gaining in popularity. The training of the actors in "300" were pretty much all of those types of exercises. They wanted to "train like Spartans"... and it worked.

Lift heavy object, throw heavy object, swing heavy object, run with heavy object... make heavy object your best friend.

Grin Funny thought: Spartan trying to share his lunch with a big rock!  Grin

Cheers

Sean
