Hi every one, just got the Garrett Super Sluice in the mail with a classifier and 2 smaller gold pans. Has anyone used these? I really like the deep 90 degree wells for catching gold, well i like the idea of it anyway, havent used it yet! Just wondering if anyone has and what their opinion is/tips etc... I am heading out for my first month in the mountains next week so any feed back would be great!!!! Happy hunting!

Those pans are about as good as they get!    Used many of them and they work for Me.

Did you see the Bit on the BatPan?

Interesting stuff there.

No, you're in prospectors talk so you're okay.  Just had a brain block on my part and I assumed you were new.  You did right!   You found the thread you wanted to post in and did!  That's how it's done.  I thought your name was familiar!   (DUH!)   Shocked

Yeah, that Batpan sounds great!  I'm tempted to buy one just because and I haven't done any panning in years!        Great

Welcome, Playmoore. Some people I know won't use any other kind of pan. They love their Super Sluices, and can work 'em well. There's a few videos on Youtube regarding this pan, just run a search. Garrett's design has withstood the test of time. For an even older design of gold pan with a few modern improvements, check out my test of the Batpan:

Xav, brace yourself for the shipping cost. I requested registered mail shipping, for safety's sake...and it added a fair bit. Total shipping cost to my country: USD45. But it doesn't matter. I had a very strong feeling that this pan would pay for itself rather quickly; and I believe it has, after using it on waste material I had previously panned/sluiced. Am just about halfway thru repanning that material, and even though the price of Au has dropped quite a lot, I'm still a happy camper with the ultrafines I'm recovering. My home-made sluice SUCKS!
