Hi guys,new to the boards and to TH all together...wanting to know of places here in Ontario or close to here to go gold hunting...i have searched and searched the net but can't find really anything in this....so any help would be greatly appreciated...it doesn't seem us Canadians have much resources on this...or i could be wrong and looking in the wrong place......

i live in southern ontario,hamilton....what about places in the U.S where i could go on a vacation...i have read some of the places open pit mines for the public or private places you can go to...anyone been to the places are they worth going? not just talking finding gold.but would be nice to bring home some big nuggets...who wouldn't?...lol..but a place for a good experience and fun for the kids and me

Ok....more detail for you (this from the GPAA Mining Guide):
"Ontario placer gold may be found in:
Along the Mississauga River in Wells Township. Minor colors.
Along the Tatachikapiks (Redsucker) River in Bristol Township.
Along Paradis Creek in Ogden Township.
Along Reserve Creek in Veekay Lake area just east of Indian reserve.
Along the Vermilion River in Hutton Township, the best pannings came from a quarter-mile stretch immediately east of Hwy 545 at the north end of Ross Lake.
Along the Wanapitei River downstream of Oshawang (Islet) Lake in Marshay Township.

Additional information is available from the Ontario geological survey, mineral deposits circular 17 "Ontario occurrences of float, placer gold and other heavy minerals." "

when it comes to gold prospecting while on vacation in the United States, there are many options from fee-pay sites where you pay by the day or by the bucket to memberships in clubs that have their own claims (annual dues range from very inexpensive to quite expensive) AND if you are really lucky you'll vacation in an area where there is "open" recreational prospecting on government land that has been specifically set aside for that purpose (Arizona has a couple of places that fall into this category)......but we'd have to have a better of idea of where you were planning to vacation.

I used the search function on the government site  Smiley   I put in "gold" and then scanned the results for the article that sounded the most general.

well no where in particular...just where ever is close to me or atleast not a very far place...i am going to look into rent a r/v for a week or 2 and then just drive to a place and spend time with the kids,have some fun and adventure...i think they would really like it..
