Your Green stone is a Volcanic Tuff.    Look for a place where it meets the Host Rock.   That is where the Gold is.

We just got a puppy on Easter and named him Toby. I would have picked Goldy if I'd thought harder.

Good for you! May Toby and you find much happiness in each other! Smiley

I do believe you're right, homie. Attached is a photo of the portion where the grey granite (right side of photo) starts to transition into the green stuff (left side of photo). The blotches of color start to get larger and more frequent. The same thing is found in other transitional areas too. Another thing I noticed is the "rusty" portions become less frequent as the rock gets greener. Am gonna read and learn all I can about greenstone. Someone once said "Finding gold is 90% research and 10% sweat." I always had a feeling I was on the right track since I started stomping around old volcanos; and now I'm finding out why! Wink

The attached photo is of the most distinct area of transition from grey/rusty granite to greenstone. And yes the color is very heavy in this region.

With that photo it does look sorta olivine like.    Based in Quarts.    The Tuff I was talking about does not have that Crystal Structure.

More like a Green Chalky kinda Rock.

Still Good Stuff and the Contact zone is the place to look.

I think I know what you mean. Seen a patch of green chalky rock not far from this current spot. Will sledgehammer it one day!

If there is gold in the chalky rock it may be a proposition for you to build a small crusher.

Till todate, I have not had a reply from the mining company on my proposal. Dunno if the recent drop in gold prices had something to do with it, or they are leery due to the memories of the Bri-X scandal in Kalimantan. You once mentioned that you had designed crushers. Did you construct any for prospecting work?

Just noticed I hit 1000 posts. w00T! Cheesy

There are instructions for building one here:

Build a couple (or more) so you can leave them hidden on sites you return to frequently. Anybody who finds it will probably leave it alone not knowing what it is for.

Thanks, but I was just curious as to the crushers Xav had designed. For my purposes I think a jaw crusher would be best, though those simple piston crushers can be handy when there's a long hike to a site.

The crusher that I did was driven by an electric motor so no good for taking to site but very handy at home.  You can build a crusher with a few bits of pipe the inner one being filed with concrete but it will only be good for a small amount of rock at a time and I don't even know how it will perform on Granite.
