Hi all. I'm located in Southern Ontario and am asking for helpful info on where in Ontario I might be able to hunt a nugget or two. Some locations for panning would be great also. Thanks!

Hello, Sparkersss........Welcome to THunting.com.

Generally it is considered customary to introduce yourself on our new users board.   But under the assumption that you will go forth and do that so the rest of the membership can say "hello" to you, you'll find the information you seek here :

There are probably other links that can be found by using the search function at the top right of the page.  However, I knew about this one....so have at it.

Thanks again..It's becoming clear to me that Ontario, Canada is just not the place where you can pan for gold or metal detect for gold nuggets..Seems that BC is the place for that. Real shame since I live in Ontario lol~  Cry

Not SO!   Gold is were you find it.

It's been years since I was in Ont. Long ago on a visit to Lakehead uni in Thunder Bay, a fellow Malaysian studying there mentioned that there's gold in the area. Maybe you could consult the geology dept of that university? That is...if they have a geology dept..I'm not sure on that respect. Good luck!

Hobbyist is correct.  And before, I refer you to this link from the government of Ontario (which would have been found if the original link to the previous THunting.com posting had been followed).   http://www.mndm.gov.on.ca/mines/ogs/resgeol/rfe/commodity/gold.pdf
Quote from the above link:

"Ontario has it. From its first discovery in 1866 in the Madoc area, through to the present day Ontario has been a major producer of gold."

Follow the link and you will find that there IS gold in Ontario.    And that's just raw gold.   Gold coins and gold ring are also gold and those can be found in the cities and towns of southern Ontario.
