Find a good welding shop and stop by an auto junk yard for some leaf springs. Have them cut and weld one for you from the springs. Best picks ever.

I have my own welding rig and oxy torch so when I need a tool, I make it.

That's a Great Idea about the Springs, Back In Oz I had my Own Mechanical work shop and a Spray and Panel Shop, But here they make it Hard for Anyone to have such things unless it is on an industrial estate which cost thousands a Month to rent and In OZ I had them in my Yard, I use to love making Tools and Bull bars and Light Racks etc.

Those were the Days  Great

Indeed, they were. Over here, it is much the same as long as you are not in the middle of a city or disturbing your neighbors. We only have one nearby neighbor and lots of land. To be kind to the neighbors, I don't work until after 10:00am and finish well before sunset.

A good neighbour policy is always Good to preserve because you never know when you might need help And they will come round if they need something doing, I use to enjoy that, It makes for a good community spirit.

The other very popular material for DIY picks is plow discs blades Smiley
