I knew what the flowers were for as soon as I saw them...I always figure in flowers in the cost of my toys.

I'm always thankful when I get a reminder that I have not been here for a while, it gives me an excuse to escape the rat-race..."May there always be gold at the bottom of your pan!"

DFXwalt, Nice tools. What strikes me is how light weight everything is. One man could carry everything in.  I am extremely curious about the neat trowel. What is that for and is it custom made? Why is the end forked? I'm going gold hunting in Montana this summer , It will be my first and I am collecting up information about the process. By the way what detector would you recommend for nugget prospecting? And what features do you find necessary?

I got it from Lowes and the forks really work in crevices in rocks but i would take an old long blade knife, like a bowie as for the metal detectore i would go with one that is for hunting gold nuggets good luck

I would offer up one suggestion. Go to a hardware store or one of the big guys depots. Get some of the closest to black rubber carpet runner you can find and cut a piece just big enough to fit into the mouth of your sluice. Don't glue it down though. Just get a couple of those big paper clips. Just look at the picture to see what I mean because I'm not sure what they're called. The handles have fallen off but the mat has been on there for about 9 years. Any size of gold will stop dead on the mat and you can suck up the smaller stuff with a snuffer bottle. The one I have in the picture is actually part of a back seat carpet protector for my car. I looked at it one day and decided I'd rather cut it up to get gold with than keep the carpet clean in the back seat.
