Try checking google earth and look for the elevations to seek out ancient rivers and dried up rivers, search them areas and not just down in the riiver but higher up on the banks is the best bet.

Damned got to this thread a bit too late but here is something for you newbie DCatmull Thunting.com has more info for you that you could ever handle, and we are a sharing bunch of guys (Except for the gold) LOL any way if you want info all you need to do is ask but do remember we also expect you to do your bit.
