Bad camera angle. Yes it does give the impression that it is too steep. I am attaching some more photos. I will take some better ones later as it is in storage now for the summer due to the drought here.

I still haven't taken new photos of the gold panner, but I did get a chance to make some mods to the trommel concentrator. I rescreened the drum size to 1/4 inch mesh and shortened the length of chute under the screen by 2 inches to stop some of the overshoot that it had. People here in AZ are graduating to dry washers that use a leaf blower motor. So, when I make one this fall that will probably be the type I build. With the gravel screened to 1/4 inch from the trommel, there will be no need to put a screen  on the dry washer. I saved the old 1/2 inch screen so that I can use it later.

OK so now you're going to have to take a generator with you so that you can run the thing?

Shocked Well Golddustcarl did say a blower now as far as I know they work of 220v or 110v and who in his right mind would want to kart a battery along anyways? I can just imagine this poor bloke with a 12v car battery on his back walking 1 miles to his site, and that's if he's lucky to be able to park that close to it.  Grin The hand blower sounds like the thing to me mate

Yea, I made one out of a weedeater Yard Blower.     X, a gell cell can run the small washers for quite some time.   This ol man never walks more then 100 yards any more.

Homefire and Xavier.
The drywasher I am talking about is operated by 4-stroke gas operated leaf blower made by Homelite or others. As long as it has an approved spark arrestor it can be operated where there are not restrictions against it. They operated by blowing a steady stream of air through the riffles (unlike Danny's puffer type), and vibrate the riffle tray by blowing some of the air through an eccentric device that vibrates. You can get plans at

Sorry guys, I did post leaf blower motor. I should have wrote leaf blower engine. You will have to excuse my American English as I tend to call any device that operates equipment for me a motor.  Cheesy

Grin Grin YES now it's making sense LOL those weed eater engines are very light and they tend to run forever on a liter of gas. Good idea but what about noise I know that with water gushing and all the sound gets muffled quite a bit (If you are by a river) but I would not like everyone to know that I'm somewhere running a washer and that I may just have some gold on me.

That's funny Xavier. "Dry Washer" is a misnomer for sure. One does not use a dry washer near water. Water is it's nemesis. The gravel has to be fairly dry or it won't work very well. I am 100% sure you knew this, but I just wanted to chide you.  Laughing. I actually like you very much. (in a friend kind of way, of course)

If your material is good and dry the noise is the last give away.   They can see the Plum of dust for miles.  LOL   If it rained the past three days you ground would be too damp / wet to work.
