That is right Homefire. There is not much noise from the Homelite blower. 25 feet away you can barely hear it. To alleviate the dust problem just drape a piece if fabric over the riffle box. However if you join a club, not one will bother you. Never go alone. Go with someone else or a group. You will have more fun, someone to help and someone to BS with plus some protection. Check out my posts on the "Prospectin Clubs" Board

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

What kind of life do you get out of the gas blower? i would think they couldn't  stand the duty cycle.

You don not have to run them at full speed, so life expectancy is same as manufacturers specs probably better. The best way to keep a long life for it is to keep it out of the dust and dirt coming off the dry washer.

UPDATE
Well instead of building my drywasher and auto panner, I broke down and bought a new commercial drywasher and a used spiral gold wheel. I am out having fun with it and have found only a little gold so far. Dredging season is near, and am looking forward to getting started on that as the gold yield is usually more because you are processing a lot more material.

Dredging has gotten super costly .   You need to make a pile of money before you make money.

What do you  mean "going"? They have always been that way. As far as dredging is concerned, I belong to a prospectors club and we have dredging permits. Biggest stipulations are leave no holes uncovered, no dredging in the banks or under exposed tree roots, no destruction of vegetation, and less than 50 yards of streambed gravels back into the stream. Piece of cake.
