Once you have the gold in solution, it would be like other plating.

There other less complex ways to do the job.

For sure there are. You could even use the very un-complex mercury and potatoes method to do the job. But that's not the point.
Is the alpha-CD method efficient enough? No idea.
Will the process be able to be tweaked to eventually become a simpler commercially viable method? No idea on that too. Enzymatic methods from the last century for gold recovery are still being tweaked today. The thing is alpha-CD is a step in the right direction; usage of less-harmful and environmentally-benign substances in place of acids and mercury. Should this ever work, the bonus is that the ingredients are easily available to the hobbyist!

True and with no risk of accidental poisoning.

It is still a complicated process, it's one plus is that it is considered to be a green process.  Another process that doesn't use cyanide is the SSN (saturated salt & nitric acid) method.  I've added an attachment with an article on the method.  You can make your own nitric acid using sodium nitrate (used as a fertilizer) and rock salt is pretty easy to get.

Thanks for the info Gramps43. I've stored the pdf on a separate hard drive and in cloud storage. Will study it! Any methods of Au extraction which refrain from the use of cyanide and mercury have to be lauded.

There a numerous ways of extracting gold from ore. Two Yahoo groups that have a lot of info on gold extraction are goldminers and microgold.  Give umm a look see they a lot of nice and knowledgeable people on there.

I'll Stick with my Halide Leach.   The Bleach and Acid end up as a benign slug in the end.  Filter out the solids and the Liquid is Good.

Just like chucking a TV in the dump you have done no more.
