I have been thinking about the Safari for next year for I'll spend a month or so detecting in my Island Puerto Rico for the first time. We have beaches and creeks all around us. My only concern with the Minelabs is the weight. I read that the Safari weighs about 4 pounds with batteries. Do you find it heavy and tiresome after a while? I own a BH Pioneer 505 and it is pretty good and light. I have been also considering a hybrid, but still doing my research because I tend to hunt for many hours and the weight of the machines really fatigues me (I suffer from chronic bad back).

Any suggestions from the forum will be appreciated.

I have had my safari for about 18 months now. I have logged up more than 150 hours this year. When I hunt I usually hunt around 4 to 5 hours weather permitting no real problems I sometimes get a little fatigue in forearm and elbow. I have had some outstanding finds on the beach at great depth awesome machine. The finds outstrip the weight issues hope this has helped

Tell me more. How deep have you detected small good stuff like coins and rings? Also, have you use it in salt beaches?
