I hunt only salt water beaches. To me the safari hunts best on wet sand.I like to hunt about 2 hours before low tide and follow the tide down.
The beach I usually go to the sand is very hard you could drive a car on it.the safari excels the average depth of coins is around 8 to12 inches deep
I have found coins about knee deep. With the rings I have found the deepest was a heavy white gold mens wedding band about 10 to 12 inches in solid sand but most 6 to 8 inches mainly silver rings depends when they were lost how deep they are. hope this has helped you

Thanks for the info. So you don't go into the water at all? Or do you have another machine for it?

Hi I only take the safari into the wash up to 6 inches or so and yes I do have another machine.I have just bought a excalibur 2 in early October have been out 2 times just testing it out found 2 silver rings and a few coins It is early spring here and cold not swimming weather yet.I like both machines a lot but the safari has target I.D. which helps just itching to get the excal out into the water
