Here is one of my finds from the 1715 Fleet wrecks the emerald is one of the 8 gems that were cut from a 85kt stone I fould on the beach 15 years ago

Once a flat object is caught up in the wave action, even the smallest tides can move things about. Silver isn't as heavy as gold so it gets picked up easier.

That's a lovely piece by the way. A real mini-treasure for sure.
