Christian:
Other than a visit to Seville Archives, to see what cannons were made of, in that period/yrs, or, yrs before the burial..
And! Even then, who's is to say that the cannons were of recent manufacture..
OR!
If they were much older !
This is another of those,
"You'd" have to have been there" to know this!
Because you live in an non-desert area
Perhaps you are not aware...
But, it the "Desert SW", Areas...
The soil is
"rock hard" !This is because ....the Deserts normally receive, very little in the way of rain!
Things don't sink!
In Az. for example, the average annual rainfall, state wide, is
12" (roughly, 35cm !)!And!
Then there is this, desert soil condition, called
"caliche" that actually,
"cements" the soil and anything in it ....
Not! Like it is in Germany....
AND! Yes!
It would be a good idea to know what they were made of...
As a
"Mag" will not pick up on anything that is non-ferrous!
But!
I would
GUESS! :
That!
Since they had no one to hide the cannons from
Who, But! The Indians were living there ?
That they didn't bury them very deeply!
But!
A good
DS'ing M'Detector & experienced op will pick up on both...As would a
GPR Unit!
