Idea for that final touch to the perfect Blackbeard look for Halloween:

There were accounts that he tied slow-burning cannon fuses to his long black hair before going into battle.

"With the fuses in his hair and heavily armed, he's a frightening person," said Butler, who added that pirates preferred to take ships without a shot.

Har, me hearties! Crew excavates Blackbeard's ship
POSTED: 6:16 p.m. EST, October 30, 2006

BEAUFORT, North Carolina (Reuters) -- Nearly three centuries ago, the notorious pirate Blackbeard ran aground in his ship, the Queen Anne's Revenge, off what is now a North Carolina beach town.

This month, a crew of 13 heads out to sea each day, hoping for clear-enough weather to dive the 20 to 25 feet to the ocean bottom to excavate what they believe is Blackbeard's ship.. . . . . .

Yes Sweet Sue thanks for posting...Smiley...Blackbeard is a idol of mine I would love to be involvd with that project.  Kay and I have been applying to dive the Queens Annes Revenge for 3 years they only accept 500 divers a year.  Its easier to get a permit to dive the USS Arizona...LOL

Hope you get the opportunity - it would be quite an experience. Here's another story making the news about Blackbeard and his crew. I think it might explain why pirates said ARRGH!  Sue, smiling

Hi All, Thanks for the post Sue,
Blackbeard, Aka Edward Teach, broke up his company after the Q.A.R. was ran aground, some experts who have viewed the wreck, say the angle of the Anchor flutes to the ship show that the remaining crew tried to refloat or free her, by rowing the anchors some distance away from the ship and then trying to pull against them using the windlass.
I think the Q.A.R was originally a French ship, which Teach captured, she was known to carry approximately 40 cannon. I believe apart from some utensils and apparatus, plus some cannon is all that is likely to be found.
Incidentally Blackbeard met his fate while commanding a sloop, he was ambushed by two Royal Navy sloops commanded by Lieutenant Maynard RN.

From historical records, Teach was a very tall man, he indeed wore lit tapers tied into his beard, contemporary reports on his death, state that it took three pistol shots and 19, yes 19 sword wounds to kill him.
He was then decapitated and his head hung from the yardarm. Five other members of his crew who surrendered were tried and hung for piracy.
Best wishes, Crowsnest.
